IBM 11a/b/g network drivers for the T41

#1 Post by jdhurst » Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:41 am

There is a new release out today - 4.0.100.140a, up a level from the 4.0.100.140 that I am currently using. The list of changes says only:
(New) Added support for machine certificate only (no user certificate) authentication.

What do you think this might mean? The machine already checks for valid NIC's.

It's for network authentication if the machine is joined to a domain and the domain uses a certain kind of IP security. It's particularly beneficial for wireless authentication where the domain admin wants to keep snoopers from intercepting and decrypting traffic. It's not something that most of us need to worry about.

Thank you. I think I shall go ahead and apply the update as it appears to be benign. ... JDH

... And, having just installed it, it works fine.
