T42 2378R4U Display erratic

#1 Post by viking68 » Sun Oct 14, 2012 3:11 pm

Plug in a/c adapter, screen goes blank -- sometimes.

Plugged in VGA monitor displays fine, so it's not the card.

Just replaced the voltage regulator, so it's not that.

Hard reset - most times will not re-boot with lit screen.

Normal shut-down (with flashlight illuminating screen) and re-boot, most times lights up the screen - until it decides, with the slightest movement to turn off the backlight.

3 different a/c adapter's (16.6-16.8v output - I metered them) were used; same results with all 3.

Could the back-light be that "hinky"? Works fine, then goes away. Will work for weeks, then issues for days.

HELP.

Thank you.

Oh, what's up with not being able to get onto lenovo support site to get bios updates, etc.?

It may very well be the card, since the outputs - analog for VGA and digital for LCD - are completely separate, and one can work well while the other one is shot.

Does your LCD have any hint of redness/pinkness on initial boot?
