T43

#1 Post by DanielK » Wed Oct 17, 2012 12:29 pm

Hello

I turn my T43 on and it goes straight to a backlit blank screen, no button will bring up a boot menu or anything and Windows wont start. Checked it with an external monitor and it still doesnt work.

Anyone know whats wrong with it?

It runs Windows XP Pro.

Welcome to the forum.
Remove both RAM modules.
It should then beep in this sequence: 1-3-3-1.
Things to try: reseat the LCD cable on the mobo and on the back of the LCD.
Borrow/replace with another inverter
Remove the wifi card, modem, hard disk, CD drive and try to boot, first without RAM (any beeps?), then with 1 stick, then with 2.
If you don't hear anything, it looks like a dead motherboard.

No, that's the last file that went 'through' before it 'froze'.
You seem to have a bad Windows install as well.
Can you get into BIOS (press F1 immediately upon booting)?
Can you boot from a CD?
Does it beep if you do as I suggested?
There's no point bringing up new problems, if you haven't even reacted to any of the previous suggestions! :BAAAD!:
