The first (AFAIK) T43p with a LED-lit AFFS LCD...PIC warning
Re: The first (AFAIK) T43p with a LED-lit AFFS LCD...PIC warning
Neither do I, just to show which way it can be done regarding LCD panel. And if I'm not mistaken, Alexey should have all the credit for discovering this panel.
I ordered the same panel myself also and will do the mod (replace LCD connector but take a cleaner approach with additional connector).

I do give him the credit of being the first one to perform a successfull mod, though....

what will be the cost of this please?RealBlackStuff wrote:I am the one doing those mods.
You can send me a 15" T4x lid, complete with UXGA LCD cable, UXGA inverter (but no LCD obviously), and I'll modify your cable and inverter, and install a new such screen for you.

Lots of thinkpads (10+) but I would never be so stupid as to list them all because that would spam everybody's searches and people who *do* try to list them all would be jerks.

a) You don't have to pull out the CCFL and risk allowing the dust in between the layers of the screensystemBuilder wrote:How is this different (or better) than this $80 mod-kit??
http://www.lcdparts.net/XB_laptop.aspx
b) These LED panels are brand new, manufactured in mid-to-late 2011, so the polarizer is not worn in the least
c) The kit that you've linked offers only one brightness level

Re: The first (AFAIK) T43p with a LED-lit AFFS LCD...PIC warning
Nice work, but I have a couple of questions.
First, is Color rendering index http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_rendering_index became better or worse? Because there's some different led backlits, classic cfl occasionally has more smooth and natural colors. It's very hard to determine it from the photos.
Second, how's the dimming implemented? PWM is no eye candy..

T30(14" XGA, 12V car powered), A31p(UXGA IPS, 2nd HDD and battery), R50p(UXGA IPS), T43(IPS SXGA+, GPU desolder), T43p(UXGA IPS, dock, almost maxed out), T60(SXGA+ IPS) + second T60 IPS+dock and some mods, T61p, T520, T540p

Re: The first (AFAIK) T43p with a LED-lit AFFS LCD...PIC warning
This LED-lit Hydis panel has already been removed from the T43p a while ago.
Reason: the PWM (brightness control) only worked on levels 5, 6 and 7. Too bright!
If you go down to level 4 or lower, the LED backlight is switched off.
The T43 SXGA+/UXGA inverter is not capable of handling this.

Still NOT a great day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff).
