... assuming that we are talking about the internal miniPCI WLAN-interface, and assuming that we are talking about an IEEE 802.11a/b/g card (not 802.11n), then I (like many others) have found the Atheros-based WLAN interfaces to be superior to the Intel ditto. For compatible cards, see e.g. the thread T42p: WLAN-swap (Intel to Atheros): Advantages/difficulties? or Change 2200bg to Atheros WiFi - must Flash Bios? or T43 with Modified Bios and Atheros 91P7301 Cannot connect. This is the simplest way to go.

If you want an "n"-card, try see the threads Can a T42 be upgraded to wireless N? or TP Link Wireless N in a T43 or What miniPCI 802.11n to buy? or Adding WiFi to a T43 etc. Taking this path may require a bit of searching for the correct driver.

For ease and simplicity, I suggest you get a 91P7301 - try see e.g. on eBay where I guess you will be able to find one (used) for less than $5, incl. shipping. Alternatively, thy the the Marketplace on this forum.

Based on your experience what is better:

IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter or IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II

And another question what generates more heat the intel or the 91P7301 (BM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter)?

Thank you very much!

IBM a/b/g mini-PCI (91P7301) will generate a "1802 error" in T43/p, these machines require a second generation card. It is by far the best "stock" card for T42/p in my opinion, though.
