T43p 15" battery question

#1 Post by fefland » Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:40 am

Does anyone know if the battery "sticks out" on the 15" model. If so, does anyone know if there is a smaller battery that does not? I am more concerned with not having the battery stick out than with extra battery life. I will almost always be plugged in. And if not, not more that 2-3 hours on battery. Thanks in advance for info.

It comes with the 9 cell battery, which does stick out. You can get a 6 cell battery, which wont stick out.

It sticks out less than an inch!

I have been using my T43 for over a month now, and I can give you some stats:

With wireless LAN turned on, the battery lasts for 3:10 hours (CPU set to adaptive, LCD Level 3)

With the same settings as above but with WLAN turned off, it lasts for about 4 hours and sometimes over.

I have 6 cell battery, by the way so it doesn't stick out at the back.

I haven't received my 15" T43 yet but in my confirm email, IBM writes that the 6-cell has a, "Run Time (Up To) 3.9 hours."

The battery in my current 14" A31 has a life of about 50 minutes.

You could always take out the battery, since you will be plugged in most of the time

Yes - but if you do - get a dummy battery from IBM (about $20). Otherwise, the open connectors will get dirty.

(I'll be you can get an old battery on Ebay for even less)

Thanks to all for the information. I think I am going to wait and see. I would buy the 6 cell as well, but after getting T43p, a case, more ram, and thinkpad protection I am broke.
