Can somebody identify the LAN module on a T42?

I have a T42 that is giving problems due to a bad LAN connection on the motherboard. The board is telling me there is a problem at startup. However, I've been able to get the wired internet LAN connection to work if I wiggle the connection, so there must be something loose near the wired connection.

Can someone tell me which is the LAN module (the location) on a T42 board? Thank you.

This is the hardware maintenance manual for your T42. It will show you diagrams for disassembly of your T42 and should have the LAN module location as well. It is something you may want to save as long as you have your T42 so put it in a safe place! Hope it helps

Thank you for the effort but that doesn't get it. I need something that shows what's what on the MB. That manual just covers all the parts that can be screwed off.

Hopefully someone with T42 experience will be by soon! I have not had the pleasure of owning a T42 so I do not have first-hand experience with one. Good luck

I think I found it. It's about 2" in front of the ethernet connection, just in front of the top memory cage, marked something like Intel 82540EP. It's square and about the size of a dime.

I wonder how many connections that chip has? It looks to have several hundred connections on the other side of the board but, I'm guessing, most of those circuit board holes are empty. I don't see solder in most of those copper holes, just an empty hole.

I can't say I've ever had a bit of luck from repairing circuits but there's always a first time. You would think I would eventually get lucky and at least repair something by accident.
