Thinkpad T43 Win XP Prof

#1 Post by helmutius » Sun Feb 17, 2013 7:40 am

Starting XP I get:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\IBMTools\Updater\jre\bin\jawaw.exe
This application has requestad the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.

When I try to get IBM-Support by "Access IBM" I get the same answer.

In XP-Device-Manager I have 2 network adapters which do not work.
They ask to get "tpm11x32.sys". I have found this in the Internet at any points, but most it does not accept this, and when it is accepted, they ask to get "tddl.dll". This dll I could not get. There are some Offrers, but they all affirm to give it, but they only want to scan the PC and to say, there are too many harms in the PC, which they can only sold remove. But after the scan it is not restored. I think this point is solved in Thinkkpad forum,, but I did not find it.

JRE is Java Runtime Environment.
I suggest you completely uninstall any and all occurrences of Java, whether from IBM, Microsoft or Sun/Oracle.
Unless you do some specific Online Banking that requires it, you do not need Java at all.
You can always re-install it, but then only the latest from Oracle.
WARNING: Oracle's Java includes crapware such as McAfee scanner, or Ask Toolbar and /or other junk.
Make sure to UNtick those during install.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
