T42 2373-FWG

First I have to say hi to all thinkpad fans! I got annoying problem with my t42 which is locked cpu speed at 599MHz. Inside is Pentium M 750 that should run at 1.86 (or something like that). In windows properties it's at 599, cpu z also shows the same, but in the bios it's at 1500. Another interesting thing is that the IBM "splash screen" takes few seconds to show up when powering on the machine instead showing immediately. I used to have T42 before so I remember how it worked. Please give me some advice....

The M 750 is for the T43/R52 models, which have an FSB of 533MHz.
All T40/T41/T42 have an FSB of only 400MHz.
You can/should use any of these Dothan CPUs:
Pentium M 710 SL7V5 (B1) 1400 MHz
Pentium M 715 SL7GL (B1) 1500 MHz
Pentium M 725 SL7EG (B1) 1600 MHz
Pentium M 735 SL7EP (B1) 1700 MHz
Pentium M 745 SL7EN (B1) 1800 MHz
Pentium M 755 SL7EM (B1) 2000 MHz
Pentium M 765 SL7V3 (B1) 2100 MHz

Well that's what I was thinking about also..the fsb....I'll try 1.4 from T41, it should be also 400MHz bus speed.



.....and it was the fsb....actually i got that thinkpad with 1.7 Pentium M which goes along with specification, but it's fsb 533..weird.
