I do not have a pre-installed Bluetooth antenna (my model is a T41 2373-1FU). Does it necessarily have to go in the screen? Can I buy the antenna, plug it into the CDC, and then stash it somewhere under the keyboard?

Yes, you can just leave it under the keyboard. It will still work. But you will also need a Bluetooth/modem card (FRU 91P7315).
