Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads

Hi I have a thinkpad t43, 1871 type, I bought a hdd, samsung hm160hc, I put a new alternative firmaware, I do no see the 2010 error. But I can not boot evrything and the boot for any media y too slow whe the disk is conected to the system.
If possible to resolve it?

Put the hard drive into another non-R52/T43/p model and see if the problem still persists.
If so, try putting it into another USB hard drive caddy and see if the computer recognizes the hard drive.
There is a chance that the hard drive controller is doomed by your firmware. What firmware did you use?
