Installed IBM restore CD on T23 but result is wierd

#1 Post by Smiley » Thu May 12, 2005 12:22 am

I need guidance from T23 users who succeeded in restoring to factory state using the IBM restore CD (Windows 2000 Pro).

I paid $45 for the IBM CDs, spent about 45 minutes to install it back to factory state, but the resulting display is in 800 x 600 pixel mode. My T23 LCD display is 1024x768 pixel and the original OS on the display was perfect.

After restoring, I went to the ControlPanel/Display/Setting/Advance and found that the display has a slide rule where the max is 800x600 whereas previously, the max was 1024x768. With this 800x600 display, the fonts are hard to read, have jagged edges, and look almost like the fonts seen in Safe Mode.

I have followed the simple instructions in the installation, and in fact there weren't any configuration choices to make. Where did I go wrong. Can you help, please? Thanks.

I don't know what happened with your restore, but check that the S3 drivers are installed correctly. In ControlPanel/Display/Setting/Advance, do you see the S3 tabs?

If not, go to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO and run setup.exe to re-install your video drivers. If that directory is not there, go to www.ibm.com/support and download the latest video driver. The downloaded file will create the C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO directory.

Good luck.
