42 vs 43

#1 Post by DRobinson » Thu Oct 10, 2013 10:52 pm

I have 2 15" t4x that I am thinking of making one good unit from.

t42p w/ 15" UXGA screen.
t43 with bad bios flash and cracked base plastic.

A am thinking of reflashing bios on t43 through a usb floppy method found on this board.

I do not think the boards are interchangable between units, correct? So, I need to get new plastic and fix up the 43 lower half and swap LCDs to get a "T43p". Does that sound about right?

All parts of T4x of the same size (14.1" or 15") are interchangeable.
The difference is between motherboards only.
T40/41/42 all can use the same CPU, RAM and PCMCIA cage.
These are different on a T43.
To use the T42p UXGA, the T43 must have ATI GPU.

Welcome

I ask the

IPS 1600x1200 panel is of the same kind in both cases and T43p T42p?

I bought the fast dies due to such a model at auction Allegro.pl:

The price was attractive :)

The IPS 1600x1200 UXGA screen will fit in any 15" T4x/R5x model.
It requires its own SXGA+/UXGA-capable LCD cable and inverter.
If you have the whole T4x lid, you can transfer it to any other 15" T4x (or from R5x to R5x, but NOT from T4x to R5x or v.v.).
And it will ONLY work if the other has ATI graphics!
