You have 30 days to return it and ask for another one or for a full refund.

BTW, I got a perfect screen. Never had a single dead pixel.

that link you posted states that i need at least 11 dead pixels, i just dont understand, please explain me how to request a LCD replacement under the 30days whatever.
thanks a bunch...
You don't return it for repair within the 30 days. You return it like you would a shirt that doesn't fit and get a new one.Scorpiontico wrote:that link you posted states that i need at least 11 dead pixels, i just dont understand, please explain me how to request a LCD replacement under the 30days whatever.

ok guys a familiar question, could someone please give me the exact part numbers for the thailand keyboard, best fitting battery (i think its sanyo right) and for the best 14.1 lcd (which is the samsung i heard)?
and what else is recommended to have replaced (maybe) or has a better priority when various options (ex. the keyboard: thai, chinese, etc and thai preferred)?
thanks alot.

As for your T43, you can search IBM/Lenovo PC Support for the part numbers found in all T43's. They will be broken down into LCD parts, etc. Then, you compare your looked up parts to those.
Or, you can do searches here for "Thai" or "Thailand" and you will find LOTS of keyboard discussion, however, the current Thai keyboard on T43's is a different part number.
My keyboard recommendation is....RELAX!! You have a warranty. IBM/Lenovo will replace your keyboard for a variety of reasons "down the road", just use the one you received for awhile.
Some of the "loose fitting batteries" are not loose any more. The SONY was the snug one on the T42, but there are now different batteries on the T43, with different AMP hours, and they are fitting just fine.
The Samsung is a good SXGA+ LCD, and was the only really decent one on the T42 14.1" models, but the T43 also has the Hydis, which I just got, and which is very nice. I find the Hydis a little brighter than the Samsung, but just about identical.
Bottom line...this is a T43 you have, not a T42. Different keyboard numbers, different batteries, some different LCD panels.

thanks man that info got me out of any doubts and questions, since you had/have t42 (older models) and i havent i believe you.... and yes the lcd is great, the batt fits ok/75% but not perfect/100% (still very nice, not like my old sony s270's) and the keyboard is good too but i wonder if theres any that is more silence when fast typing keysaamsel wrote:As for your T43, you can search IBM/Lenovo PC Support for the part numbers found in all T43's. once again thank you very much.
ps: thinkpads should be reconized as the best computers on the planet, and i dont say this just because im a newb and have my first thinkpad but because every single detail this babes offer... just about anything an user could ask for, all-in-one small thin lightweight lappy... there arent really fan and heat issues in the t43, very fixable... in my opinion
IBM ThinkPad T43 2668-72u + RAM upgraded to 1GB = not just as best for business but also as best all-purpose professional portable computer ever!
The Thai keyboard on the T43 is identical to the Thai keyboard on the T42. In the past month or so, there was a change in part number, but the keyboard remained the same. Now...if you got the Chinese keyboard that's a different story. Most people prefer the Thai, but some actually report that they like the Chinese better.
Bottom line...IBM has never put out a bad keyboard for a T Series Thinkpad.
Have you done a parts lookup for your system yet? If not, do one.
Get the FRU# for the keyboard from it and search for that FRU# in PC Support on IBM/Lenovo's site.

one more question Andrew, since you known both keyboards and the thai is the same for t43s and t42s, can you tell me then which one will be the quitest one? between the chinese and thailan which when fast-typing would be more silence?
thanks so much.

OK, you have received your Thinkpad, right?
So, you can flip it over and get the serial number, and you know the 4 digit Thinkpad model, like 2378.
OK, forgetting about the automated method, in which the Thinkpad gets identified by IBM's website over the web, here is how I always do it.
You go to:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... sLookup.vm
and put in the 4 digit machine type and your serial number.
It brings up a list of parts.
THOSE ARE THE PARTS IN YOUR THINKPAD!!
PRINT THIS COUPLE OF PAGES OUT.
You then go to:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ea=SUPPORT
and search for each part's FRU#, confining the search to your 4 digit type of Thinkpad.
You will get hits like "LCD Assembly" which you then click on, and then when that comes up, what I do is search on that webpage for the FRU# that I had been originally seaching for. You will then see the manufacturer information for that FRU#.
The original parts information (that you printed out) will show two numbers for each part, the part number and the FRU#.
YOU WANT TO SEARCH FOR THE FRU#. This means Field Replaceable Unit Number.
If you find a FRU# that can not be identified, you search for the FRU# on this forum, if no hits are found, you post what the FRU# is here and what the part description is, i.e. Keyboard FRU# 39T0519 and hope that someone knows what it is.
Most parts can be found through a search of PC Support (the second link).
That's how it is done.
It has worked like a champ for me.
This can be found in the FAQ, or most of it anyhow.
I hope this gets you there, but you can post or PM me if you need any additional help.
