Dothan 2.0?
Dothan 2.0?
Any firm or otherwise shipping times for these beasts
Latest I heard was 6/30
T41p-GEU / T42p-KXU bought from Bill/ T60p-8HU / 4 T400p's and now a T440p
I was about to post the same question...
I am very very interested in the 2.0 Ghz T42p.. I work with 3D rendering code, so it's a real necessity, not a "mine is better!" kind of thing. So my T42p purchase is simply waiting for the 2.0Ghz availability...
Bill doesn't have any 2.0Ghz machines either.
Note that IBM *DID* have 2.0 Ghz machines listed on their main T-series page at the May 11 (12?) launch of the T42. I had one in my cart! But they disappeared sometime in late May, and now 1.8 GHz is the highest listed. [Check

]
Note that T42p's with 2.0GHz do exist, but not in the USA.. Canada's
site does have them listed:
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... lCurrId=74
Note that "listed" doesn't mean "available" but it's still a lot better than not listed at all!
And a few online stores (may) have it. euclidcomputers.com responded to an email from me, they have a 2.0Ghz machine that was returned.. they were going to send it back to IBM but gave me an option to purchase it before then. I passed, since if one person returned it, there was probably a reason. But that's evidence that 2.0Ghz machines exist..
As might be expected, Dell has lots of 2.0Ghz machines in stock, available immediately. But who wants a Dell?
Anyone on this board have a 2.0GHz T42? Please tell us how you got it. [And we'll even politely let you smirk and grin and brag "I have a 2.0 and you don't" ]

Just because they're not listed doesn't mean that you can't order them. Just take a look through the TAbook and call IBM with the model that you'd like. They'll give you a price quote and availability information. I ordered a 2373KTU over the phone three days ago. I wish I could say that I have it now so I could politely grin and smirk but availability says 7/16/04, at least on my order.
You could also send Bill an email and he'll provide you with more information about ordering one with a 2.0 as well.

KXU Estimated Ship Date
I ordered the KXU on 6/1 via the IBM site and my est. ship date is 7/8. I'll post an update when I receive it...hopefully before 7/8.
