60gb 7200RPM HDD firmware update...

I have a Compaq x1000 that I currently am running my HDD in, but I'm getting my T41 today. Do I need to apply the firmware update to make this harddrive work correctly inside my new computer? What is the firmware update for really? I saw it on the bottom of Bill's main page, but I can't really tell what it does :-/. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

By the way, as the subject says, it's a Hitachi Travelstar 60GB 7200RPM drive....

the firmware is for the 7k60 that come installed with the IBM thinkpad...if you bought it somewhere else, you don't need it...

i have exactly the samething here...a hitachi i'm using on my x1000

...will take it out and put into my T23 when it comes here this week...

Are you getting rid of your X1000 then?
