Kingspec performance KSD-PA25.6-064MS (pic warning)
Folks, I've installed the above Kingpec in my T43/R52 motherboard and had some problems but I've moved along a bit. I used AVG SSD hard drive utilities http://s841.photobucket.com/user/pdster ... ent&page=1
Re: Kingspec performance KSD-PA25.6-064MS (pic warning)
I received a response from Kingspec but confusing,
"Thanks for your kindly e-mail,This is Goniyo from kingspec,Hope I can serve you.
Regarding to the function of secure erase, now it only can be use to perform on SATA SSD,not IDE SSD. And the KSD-PA25.6-064MS also haven't the reserved program and hardware switch. So this model SSD can not perform a secure erase. If want to use secure erase, you can take our professional security erasing SSD for testing.
Best Regards
Goniyo"
Really not sure what this means sounds like you can't secure erase it but the last line throws me

Maybe they have an erase utility? Was there anything attached to the email? Or a link to download?
Maintning and upgrading a few aT4x/R5x on the cheap!
They are truck mounted in my landscape company. I have some PCs and Android devices as well.
Re: Kingspec erase utility
It seems as though you are in denial. Your drive does not feature ATA Security. Get over it. Erasing is easy. In Windows, use action CLEAN in diskpart. In unix, cat < /dev/zero > target.kingspec.
edit: What I wrote is stupid and mean. I should not have added noise to this discussion. Please ignore this post.

Re: Kingspec erase utility
Wow, in denial? really? I never wanted secure erase and really don't give a crap about it. I just thought I had to deal with it since it was an SSD. Returning the drive anyway, works like crapautomobus wrote:It seems as though you are in denial. Your drive does not feature ATA Security. Get over it. Erasing is easy. I can't say that I'm surprised one bit...as previously stated:burns334 wrote: Returning the drive anyway, works like crap
Good luck.ajkula66 wrote:Personally, I'd ditch both XP and that particular SSD and move on to W7 with a different drive altogether.

Folks, the seller replaced the drive with new and I performed a clean install and then aligned the partition. Using Crystal Mark to check the speeds it shows slight improvement but the good news is that the machine is very good. It's only used for email and surfing and is way more than acceptable. I spent $94 for the drive, far cheaper and easier than the RBS board mod ($82) plus a SATA drive ($90). Read speed 92 MB/s and write speed 63 MB/s in the Seq test (first one in Crystal Mark). I know most everyone here is looking for bang for the buck deals and I can really say this is acceptable to me. Just my 0.02 cents

Lousy performance when compared to a SATA-modded T43, AND a drive that you'll have to throw out once the machine dies since it can't be used in a newer laptop.burns334 wrote: PS, AKJ, I know you said throw it out but really not bad
Not at all good IMO, but it was your money to burn in the first place.
