T43 BIOS Setup for CD Boot

#1 Post by newthinkpadder » Sun Mar 16, 2014 4:10 pm

Hi
What a great forum so much info !! I ve had a good look around but need a bit of help if possible as I have not quite found a right answer yet. I have recently acquired a T43 Type 2669UYY,I believe its an old business machine, I have already put in two 1 GB sticks of memory to speed it up a bit, and about to upgrade the 40Gb HDD to a new 80GB HDD.I ve tried to alter the boot up order in the bios but it seems to have a supervisor password set up, so can t get it to boot up from CD any ideas or links to possible answers, many thanks in advance. G.

Have you tried pressing the F12 key during the boot splash? IIRC, that should bring up a boot menu without the need to enter the BIOS.

Hi
Thanks for the reply but, the F12 option only gives me the 1. IDE HDD 2. PC LAN Network boot options

OK...those are probably the only two boot devices selected in the BIOS, and without access to the BIOS you are pretty much stuck.
