Replace HDD on a T40
I have a Thinkpad T40 type 2373 with no HDD. The empty slot is about 2.125” wide and has two 68pin connectors.I have searched eBay but the drives that are supposed to fit this machine do not appear to be compatible. They are 2.5” wide and have either a 40 pin or 44 pin connector. I would also consider using a CF card if I could find a suitable adapter but so far haven't been able to. I would appreciate any advice on where to find some hardware to get this Thinkpad running again. Thanks in advance.

You are looking into the PCMCIA cage on the left side of the palm rest.
The hard disk (2.5" PATA, 40-pin) is hidden behind the cover on the right side of the palm rest.
One screw on the bottom frees the HD-cover, pull it out.
You might even find a (non-working perhaps?) HD in there already...

I should have been able to figure this out myself. I have an old i series Thinkpad where the HDD is on the left side and I assumed too much. Thanks again!RealBlackStuff wrote:You are looking into the PCMCIA cage on the left side of the palm rest.
