EPP Discount

#1 Post by phpguru » Wed May 18, 2005 5:07 pm

Hey all,

Could someone pm me the prices for the T42 through EPP (2373M3U, 2373M1U and 2378FVU)? I would like to know how much a difference it brings me before I start looking/asking friends/family. Basically to find out if its worth it.

Thanks,
phpguru

Actually, if you don't mind, could you post them so that I can see too? :)

I think its a courtesy not to post prices due to the fact that not everyone has access to it. But i'm not sure.

Well ok, I won't post any prices, since it's not clear if that's "ok". But I will offer this: You can call the EPP phone number and get prices without an employee number - they just can't sell to you. At least that's what I was able to do recently.

Not sure what the problem with posting prices would be. Many post prices for the educational/credit card sites, or prices from university academic stores that have deals with IBM.

Just because one person can get an EPP price doesn't mean the rest of us can't know the cost.

2373M3U: $1,839.20

2378FVU: $1,376.10

Those are the exact models I'm trying to get prices for through EPP! Unfortunately, searching by part number on the EPP site doesn't yield any results for me. I've sent an an email for prices but I'm going to try and call them during business hours.

I'd snatch it up right now if it was a 100 dollars less than what im seeing if for :)

also, how much did you end up paying for that 2687E4U, looks like a good config.

To give you an idea of the EPP price, I purchased the 2378FVU about 2 months ago for $1146.xx + tax. Shipping was free and it came with a free notebook bundle (carrying case + travel mouse).

The list price for the 2378FVU is $1529. If you call them up and ask for one of the credit card discounts (Mastercard, Discover, Visa), you should get 10% off the Express model. In this case, the 2378FVU should be $1376.10. This model is listed with a 25 day wait.

On this IBM/Lenovo Students/Alumni page, you get 10% off the Express models as well:

how did you get a M3U? i called on tuesday and they said there were no more T42's with the 14.1 SXGA (1400x1050) anymore.

granted i had placed my order for a 2687D3U (t43) on sunday, so they probably didnt' want the hassle of me changing my order.

HAHA, right, the tabook is updated, and there will be no more 2378-FVU's. Seems I need to buy it THIS WEEK or so.

Reference = '[Insert Allusion to Trigger Here]"

I need some help with this purchase.
Just a couple quick final questions.

My recent Epp order didn't come with this bundle. Is it something you had to ask for? Thanks.

WRONG!!!!!

Seems that 10% off the 2378-fvu at list price of 1529 ends up being totally WRONG. I called yesterday and someone gave me that quote and was SUPPOSE to email it to me, I never got the email. Called back after 24 hours, Talked to the Supervisor for SouthWest....

Said he wouldnt honor my quote of 1376 for the base 2378-fvu.
Only reason: That the 2378-fvu is an express model and only comes with max of 5% discount. How could i get a quote accessed from the System, and not be recorded. Base price ends up being 1452.

Now I am confused.
$1,376 is the price I am pulling up for the 2378FVU on the Educational site right now. I could place an order for one this moment at that price.
Put in a credit card number and it would be done.

ya know, educational discounts are, well, really only intended for those entitled to such..

and those who are entitled should know where and how and have the correct credentials..

yes, BUT they are publicly available to view. If i can prove to the sales REP that i have proper documentation to show my status as a student in Texas, then whatever gets the job done.

If someone can find me a better deal than the quote i got showing proper documentation for my CURRENT status as a student, then....whatever gets the job done.

I appreciate it btw, aamsei.
