Disable Forward / Backward Key green text?

#1 Post by XCoalMiner » Sat Jun 19, 2004 12:25 am

On my T41, I see a quick "Forward" and "Backward", in bright green with no background, popup in the lower rh corner, briefly, each time I press the forward or backward keys.

Curiously, these green text messages are supressed when using IE, but in other apps. , such as Firefox or Mozilla, they are ever present.

Is there a way to permanenly turn these off, they are very annoying?

Run Keyboard Customizer Utility. Under Key Sensivity uncheck "Enable Browser Keys."

I don't want to disable the keys, I just want to get rid of the those cheap-looking, cheezy text messages. I suspect there's something in the bios, but I can't find it.

P.S: I have the keyboard customizer utility disabled. Whatever you do in there you can do via via the OS and a few resistry entries.

OK, I see. Well you can disable it in Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>On Screen Display>Uncheck On Screen Display. The problem with this method that you disable the other on screen display functions, such as speaker volume, LCD brightness etc. I haven't really find any other way yet to disable it.

Thanks, I see that setting now.

Do you have any idea why the backward/forward text does not appear when using IE, but does appear for all other apps.? If you use these keys in IE, you don't see the text, but switch to a different browser, and these messages become very, very annoying.

I don't like the looks of the messages either - even though they are adjustable - but I like the feature.
