HELP! Can't get S-video out to work!!

#1 Post by smakdown61 » Sat May 21, 2005 5:28 pm

I just got an s-video to rca video adapter and Im trying to output my desktop to my tv. Im on a t42p and I used the thinkpad software installer to upgrade all my drivers, including the video driver. Not only do I get no video, but no audio as well (i have the audio adapter to rca too going into my tv). I've tried everything in the display properties and the f7 function but nothing. When intitially switching to the tv I can hear a little bit of audio then nothing....any ideas???

I believe that you have to use the "Presentation Director" buddled in your T42p to do it. To be more precise, you need to install (suppose that you reinstall both the OS and the softwares) "Presentation Director" (which is located in the W9x folder under Drivers folder), so that Fn+F7 can be directly connected to that software. After installing, you need to add one more scheme so that you can output the screen through S-Video.

Sorry for my poor English, I don't know how to say this more clearly. The point is that you need to install "Presentation Director" first in order to do so. Try it and wish you a good luck!

Yes, I tried those as well as the presentation director.....apparently the problem is it won't even detect that its connected to the tv. Could this be because im using an s-video to composite adapter and the signal is too weak?

I don´t know, I had several times problems with bad cables, after using a different cable, it worked.

Well turns out it was a faulty connector. Got another one and it works great now.
