IBM Thinkpad Stickers

#1 Post by T41mbi » Sun May 22, 2005 2:17 am

I ordered a new palm rest for my T series IBM thinkpad and it came with a very high quality IBM thinkpad sticker (The same you see on the front cover and the palm rest) - that is, when you stick it on it looks exactly like the others.

Anyway my point is... if they got these we should order a bunch to keep our thinkpads IBM branded :-)

Wait, didn't the FAQ on the Lenovo site say they would keep the IBM Thinkpad logo?

I've been really lucky getting them from eBay. Just look around. I know no other place that sells them.

They are only keeping the IBM Thinkpad logo for year 1 and 2. During year 3 and 4 they will use a "Lenovo-IBM Thinkpad" logo, and during year 5 and onward, they will use a "Lenovo Thinkpad" logo.

you mean the palmrest no longer comes with the embossed IBM Thinkpad logo, but instead comes with a separate sticker, or is that in addition to?

I just talked to my rep on Monday and he said they're shipping exactly like before, IBM logo and all, no change. Not yet anyways.

I ordered a palm rest and LCD screen cover both at the same time (backup replacements that will be used to restore the ThinkPad to as-new condition in the future...getting 'em while they still say IBM :) ), and my palmrest did NOT come with a sticker, but the LCD lid *did*, interestingly.

And it is a "spare" sticker. Both the palmrest and the LCD lid already had stickers applied PLUS it came with the spare; I did not have to manually stick it on myself.

Nathan,

Are you telling us that the IBM logo is not embosed in the surface anymore, but now they just put a sticker?

These are really high quality stickers... Quite impressive I prefer them over the original :-)
