I finally managed to upgrade the wifi pci in my T23 to a/b/g plus WPA encryption - all for only $38 from Newegg, including shipping! Check this out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833106219
What made me took the plunge was the encouraging customer reviews at the Newegg website - all of them installed this Intel wifi card in different brands of laptops and were very happy with it.
However, one trade-off for T23 owners. The native b wifi pci card in the T23 is a combo, i.e. for wifi and dialup modem. So, in the T23 pci compartment, there are 3 wires connected to the IBM High Rate wireless pci, one for main antenna, one for aux antenna, and the third wire - a thin black ribbon-like wire is for dialup modem. But this new Intel a/b/g pci card that I got is not a combo. In exchange for upgrading to g wifi with WPA, I have to give up the dialup modem capability, which is okay with me since I've stopped using dialup.
I don't know how many T23 owner searched so hard to upgrade their wifi card, but I'm grateful to those Newegg customers with such useful feedback.
