Returning my T43, some questions..
Returning my T43, some questions..
I recently purchased a 2668-88U T43 for $1515 after taxes. Looking at the IBM site through EPP, i can get express model for cheaper or a better equipped model for the same price.
I could use the 100+ savings. The other option I was considering was the T42 2379-DXU, though i don't know about availability as I haven't called on it yet.
I'm only interested with 15" SXGA+ screens. Are the technologies for the 15" SXGA+ flexview the same for both T43 and T42?

Considering the long time waiting, I recommand you think it again. In addtion, you need to pay the shipping fee.
Your's price seems reasonable and with 3 year warranty. Don't know whether the express model have it. Usually, the 2687-... has the 3 year warranty.
From my experience, computer needs to be repaired sooner or later if you really care about it.
From EPP price, T42 is more expensive for the same config.
Just my two cents.

I just called today and ordered a 2379-DXU through the EPP plan and was given an estimated shipping time of two weeks. That being said, I haven't received a confirmation Email or any other info yet.
Cheers from someone who repaired IBM computers w/60,000 vacumn tubes in the early 60's and still hasn't found a better keyboard than IBM's!

Not quite sure it's worth all that hassle just for the sake of a small amount of money. Keep to what you've got - a few extra MHz here and their isn't worth all you'll have to go through in order to get a slightly cheaper unit.BoostedA4 wrote:I recently purchased a 2668-88U T43 for $1515 after taxes. Hmm, yeah I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle either. I'm just annoyed that 2 weeks later there is a better deal (I know how this cycle doesn't end, but 2 weeks after is frustrating).
I wonder if I could work out any price deductions or maybe a credit from IBM to save them the hassle of having to take back my notebook and ship me out another.

I'd keep the unit if it has no problems (e.g. dead pixels or outer case problems). It's not worth returning a good unit and getting a new one. A new one might have problems.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Given the fact I have no issues with the notebook, have 0 dead pixels, and took the time to fresh install xp, remove partition, undervolt, and customize it.........I am going to keep it.
Just a thought, but do you think it is possible to cal customer service, state how there are current express models that are over 100 less with the EXACT setup I have now, warranty and all. And that instead of going through the hassles of returning my notebook to them, and buying a new one, maybe they could give me a small credit towards an upgrade, like RAM?
