IBM II WLAN not working in T43p?

I asked the shop where I am buying a T43p 2668-G2G (same as 2668-G2U) to upgrade it with a IBM Wlan card. They tried to build in the one that works with the T42's (IBM WLAN-Modul P/N: 31P9701 ) and got a Bios error. They contacted IBM and were told that that card is not compatible with the T43p and that there is no alternative to the Intel card at this moment.

This sounds crazy, as the specs of the T43p 2668-G7U for instance clearly state an IBM wlan card... The peolple at IBM in Germany even said there will be no alternative available even in the future. Funny thing is that the T43p 2668-G7G (german model) also has an Intel card, so is completely identical to the G2G.

Is the card in the T43p different than the one in the T42p's?
