T42 Cases

#1 Post by modemrat » Sat Jun 19, 2004 11:40 pm

I am going to be getting a T42 with a 14' screen and I was wondering if anyone has had any first hand encounters with very slim cases.

I am looking for something I can just slip my T42 in and out of without a hassle, like if i was on my laptop in a restaurant and needed to go to the bathroom and wouldn't want to leave my laptop unguarded and would take it with me. I've seen some one's that look promising on ebag.com but the thinest one they have is 2 inches wide, which is roughly twice the size of the t42 itself. Also the bag wouldn't need to have compartments for a power cord, but if there is one and it is still slim thats fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Bill

Here is one idea. It is made for powerbooks but since the T series 14 inch is smaller in every way it would fit in there. Scroll down to the brown and black leather ones as I think they're probably the best for a low key look. Some of them are pretty out there.

EDIT: There is actually an option on the right hand sidfe that says "for 14" ibooks/PC"

so that would be the one you want ... $99
2373-9XU ... will be on it's way soon

This thread has a zillion suggestions:

In IBM accessories there is a nice soft sleeve-type case:

Or, these look like what you are describing (I was looking at these, from page 2 of the above post):

Hi! I really love this notebook sleeve as im more prone to accidents (etc dropping, banging, rubbing my notebook against almost everything)

I had my old Fujitsu in that sleeve when it dropped off the desk. No scratches, dents or cracks. Quite amazing.

Cheers~

Has anyone bought a sleve from Shniza?

they look nice, Ive been looking for a glove type case for my 14" T42. I would like one that Fits like a glove and has the ability to remain on while I use my TP. A zippered rear would also be nice so I can charge my TP or use it plugged in while still in the case.

These guys have some nice stuff, my Tumi ballistic briefcase is 12 years old and still looks new!

Kinda pricey but so is your ThinkPad;-)

A couple folks mention it on this post (including me). It definitely fits like a glove (15" medium case for my 15" T42). Subtle but slick looking. It unzips on 3 sides so having it on while you work basically means it sits underneath with the other half flapped open.
