NEW software updater and can't upgrade T23 wireless driver

#1 Post by baraider » Sat May 28, 2005 5:24 pm

Noticed there is a new updater dated may 27...version 3.11

On another note, i have a problem updating my t23 wireless driver from 2.0.9.0 version to 2.0.9.2228

the software updater found there is a newer version, download the software and when it came to update...it said i have to manually install it, click on it and it presents me with remove/modify/repair option....either option really update the driver...

i tried to download the software myself, click on setup and the driver doesn't seem to upgrade to new version...it still shows the old version

This is a t23 2647-9lu with the ibm high rate wireless combo card
Current: T60 2623-D6U, Ideapad S12 (upgraded to XP Pro)

You must uninstal the old driver first. Then run the updater and it will automatically install the new (most current) driver

The pre-wireless way. Plug your Ethernet cable in to your laptop from your cable or DSL modem.

Your welcome, glad to help.
The next time you are going to up-date a Wi-Fi driver and it says you need to install it manually. When it presents you with the remove/modify/repair option. Click on remove, that should then walk you through the uninstall, install process without having to reconnect through your Ethernet cable.

I have used both methods I suggested to you successfully. Beyond that I'm out of ideas, perhaps someone else may have a suggestion that will work for you. Good luck

I had the same issue with my T42 (2373-3UU) . . . It told me I had to remove the previous wireless driver (ver. 2.4, I think). I dutifully "backed" out, tried to remove it, but no go. So I went for a manual install, and it told me it didn't work. I check the driver version in Device Manager, and it HAD been updated to ver. 4.0 . . . I ran Software Installer again, and it still showed ver. 2.4. So I don't know which driver version I'm running! Do I trust Device Manager? or Software Installer? Regardless, my wireless still works :?
