t42 will not network with desktop??

#1 Post by ewthompson » Sun May 29, 2005 8:53 am

Baffling problem here (though I suspect the solution is a simple one)

Preface- I really am starting to dislike the Access Connections applications...

any rate, I have the most simple setup possible for a desktop and notebook PC combo. For home use, both are connected to a DSL router. I am unable to get the computers to recognize eachother under their respective 'My Network Places' folders. I have run the wizard on each machine a number of times. I am wondering if this has something to do with XP and AC conflicting somehow. I simply want to drag some files off my home PC to my notebook.

HELP

Thanks in advance,

EWT

It's not likely an Access Connections software, except in one regard. One of the most common causes of inability to network two computers through a router is firewall setting that causes the systems not to see each other. A new Access Connections profile can enable the Windows firewall by default (been there, done that). So check your firewalls and your Access Connections profiles for firewalls and see where you land. ... JD Hurst

thanks for that-- I have a new problem. In my frustration with Access Connection, I opted to remove the software. I preferred the windows setup anyway. Now, however, it appears I've lost all bluetooth capability. For IBM to make bluetooth dependent on Access Connections sucks. Are you aware of a workaround?

Thanks,
