UUID on Bios is null (How to load that?)

UUID on Bios is null (How to load that?).I read about this issue that I need to purchase a "thinkpad hardware maintenance diskette" but I didn't follow any instructions. Anyway I purchased this disk and try to run in 2 T42 without success.(the software say reboot the computer and insert a password" but I disable all passwords on BIOS...
I was browsing IBM website for hours and still I didn't find any documentation about How to use this disk.
Any tip will be welcome.

Thanks, Exclamation

The maintenance disk you need is not available to the public (and probably never will be). I think it's version 1.71 or so. You must either take the laptop to an authorized service place or call IBM Easy Serve (if under warranty) and they will send you a box and have it back to you within a day or two. They did that for me with a brand new T42 that I bought still sealed in the box from a large corporation. I couldn't believe it had no serial number or UUID, but IBM wasn't suprised at all. Corporations do that for security and to facilitate their own setups. If the disk you have IS version 1.71 then is should work if you know how to use it (and I would love to have a copy!).

Good Luck,
Yak
