Where is an HDD Protection System driver for T43?

I can't find ThinkVantage Active Protection System installer for T43 and Windows XP? It can't be found in the 'Drivers' link on this forums and on Lenovo Support Downloads, when T43 model selected. Thanks for help.

I noticed that this driver wasn't to be found in the T42 matrix when I installed Win7 on a T42 some weeks ago. I just searched for it and used the one I found under the Active System Protection Driver general page. And that worked. The XP one can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds010633
Install it and see if it works. To make 100% sure it works, open up the menu for the Active Protection in the Control Panel and check if the Thinkpad in the picture wiggles and pauses the drive when you wiggle your laptop.

Thanks for the link. Installer finishes OK, but when I try to run 'Active Protection' from control panel, it is saying that 'This application is not supported on this system'. I found, that my T43 (with UXGA screen) has had mobo swapped in warranty - there was a special sticker on the mobo saying this is a spare part. When I got this ThinkPad I also found that it is missing machine type, serial and UUID. Thus I obtained ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance diskette and I've set the attributes in EEPROM correctly using it. TVSU application recognizes the system well now but:

- PM driver in Hotkey features package will not install (again: 'This application is not supported on this system')
- In optional updates, it is advertising embedded controller program update even I have the newest version already

This *might* have something to do with the hard drive that you're using. I've gotten the very same runaround with a T61p not that long ago. Unfortunately, I don't have any wisdom to offer or a solution to share...

Yes, the Hotkey issue is solved by using the older version, I have never had this happen on a T4x, but several times on Tx00/Tx10 and Tx20 machines.

When I reinstall Thinkpads from a clean install, I usually save the drivers I download and install. So in my T43 folder I have an Active Protection System file named gqsa11ww.exe. This one did indeed work on one of my T43s with XP Pro SP3 (32 bit, of course). I don't see this file online on any "reliable" download source, so if you want, I can email this file to you. It seems to have been downloaded in March 2014, so it's not that old.

Thanks NorwayPad for providing me with the name of the package. By googling, I found it can be downloaded from Lenovo:

The Forum Drivers has an even older version: gqsa10ww.exe
But since Lenovo (or IBM?) did not put this program in EVERY model's list, it's hard to find.

with matching text-file.

No luck with gqsa11ww. I have also tried version 1.40 and noticed interesting thing - it installs, opens the ThinkVantage Active Protection System properties window but in 'About' tab, it shows 'Driver version: Unknown'. In Real-time Status tab I can see the laptop visualization but it will not move according to movements with ThinkPad. I am assuming there is no driver installed properly.

I have managed it to work. The key problem seems to be in compatibility of newest packages. I have used very old ThinkPad Power Manager (IBM ThinkPad Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features v1.38) in combination with Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67.04.05, On-Screen Display v6.62.01 and Active Protection System v1.78.0.10 and it works.

Ok, I also remember I struggled with the T42 and some of the packages. I don't think the newer Power Manager works there, and I had to use the older and simpler "Battery MaxiMiser" one. But the newer Power Manager does work on T43 / XP, as does all the other mentioned packages. At least they worked fine for me last year.

If you're interested in pursuing this further, I can boot it up the mentioned T43 and see what versions I run of the different packages.
