Media bay batteries
Media bay batteries
Anybody have experience with media bay batteries on a T4x? I know it does not last as long, but how much extra time can you get from one?
I have seen some Lenovo batteries on ebay.

An hour, maybe 90 minutes when these were brand spanking new.natgab wrote:Anybody have experience with media bay batteries on a T4x? I know it does not last as long, but how much extra time can you get from one?
With a likely production date of 2007/2008?I have seen some Lenovo batteries on ebay.

Re: Media bay batteries
I've always enjoyed the flexibility of having these available. Unlike main batteries you can swap these one after another to basically extend your battery life as long as you need to without shutting down or going into hibernation. I've got handful of these that hold maybe 45 minutes each anymore... I don't use them terribly often, but they come in handy when I need them.
I bought one new with my T61p. Didn't boost battery life by much when it was new; maybe an hour - tops - but it did absorb all the cycling that would have otherwise accelerated the wear on the main battery.

Re: Media bay batteries
That is a bay battery for T60 era and newer thinkpads, not for T43 era machines. It is listed as new, so it should be new. Judging by the seller rating, they are probably not lying. either.

Re: Media bay batteries
Only problem with "new" batteries is that they do wear out, even while sitting on the shelf. I don't ever expect them to hold 100% their original new capacity - IMHO, 85-90% is acceptable for NOS Li-po batteries about 7-8 years of age.

Kinda a nostalgia thing, I loved having a media bay battery on my old Apple Pismo (Powerbook G3) long ago.theterminator93 wrote:Only problem with "new" batteries is that they do wear out, even while sitting on the shelf.
