ThinkPad T41 video issues or what??? Help me please.

#1 Post by luca9903 » Thu Jul 23, 2015 11:08 am

Hi,

I have a ThinkPad T41, it starts up well but sometimes the screen suddenly shutdown, the computer go on working for a few seconds and then it restarts. The screen shut down when I move the lid and when I move the computer. I checked the monitor in a T40 and it works, so I think it is not the screen. I have been able to boot windows and it worked well until the screen stopped working.

I hope somebody will help me. What could be the issue?

To me it sounds like a failing GPU chip, big time.

A replacement motherboard is likely in your cards if you're intent on keeping the system running.

Good luck.
