T43p bad checksum error in bios on boot

I replaced the bios battery with the one from my old T43 which I replaced a few years ago. I got the bad checksum error with the battery included in this T43p. I have the working T43p this is the backup that just arrived. The bios is version 1.22. The other T43p has 1.29 with the 2010 error removal mod applied. This T43p has a 80GB Hitachi drive.

What is causing the CMOS bad checksum error message? Will updating the bios fix the issue?

You guys took too long to answer so I fixed it myself. I reset the bios to default settings and reset the clock. Problem solved. Next step using recovery disks to load XP.
