Games. t43 X300 vs t43p FireGL V3200
Games. t43 X300 vs t43p FireGL V3200
Ok ok. I boot into windows once in a while to play games, and I know that the FireGL is first and foremost a OpenGL AutoCAD-graphics-card and that the X300 is a low-end applcation/light-gaming card
But... If I happend to play games. What would perfom best? The V3200 is based on the X600? x800? But underclocked ?
Any ideas?
I want 14.1" and 1400x1050.. And a gaming-laptop is out of the question. I want a Thinkpad... And i Run linux 99.5% of the time... I just want the possibility...
Any news on a upgrade, x600 version?

im pretty sure the v3200 would do much better... although benchmarks like 3dmark05 sometimes dont relate explicitly back to real game performance i'm PRETTY sure the v3200 scores like 3000 marks more than the x300... the v3200 is based on the x600... it's not downclocked or anything just that it uses different drivers than the x600 that optimize it for the autoCAD stuff and not for gaming

Unfortunately I wasn't able to review a T43P, but you can check out my review on a 14" SXGA+ T43 w/X300 here.
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...

Well, I had a problem with my T43 freezing, it has the X300, but it may help your problem.
I went in to display settings and found that my card was only set at 16-bit colour. Changing this to 32-bit solved the freezing problem. This may or may not be the case with your computer and it may or may not help, but check to see first.
