OEM recovery win 7 pro and T43p

just short info

I have factory recovery cd with win7 pro x64 and win7 pro x86 (polish)

x86 version great works with T43p (100gb hitachi 7200, and 2gb ram)

maybe someone this can be usable info

T43p work for me as service computer in garage. I have installed software for tuning, diagnose etc
newer versions req windows 7 - this is reason why I pulled out xp
btw, after many years, this is still good machine. Old good school

additional I just install office starter 2010 PL

updates takes many hours recovery don't have sp1

I noticed the Windows 7 updates peg the T43p CPU (and cause it to overheat). When I had a QX6800 it also ran hot when Windows 7 updates kicked in. So, maybe it's best to forgo the updates on the T43 and just manually install SP 1.

Some people have installed Windows 8 on their T43s... but performance is probably not good.

I think using a T43p as a bench or service computer isn't half a bad idea. Since they're not good as daily drivers, let's say if you're working on a project in your bench area and need to look up schematics or research something, it could push and do the job-- WITH the added benefit to use the IPS display.

if your t43p overheats just replace paste under cpu and gpu on ic diamon7 - forever peace of mind
under gpu you need additional cooper pad

about drivers and win 7 - is not problem - TPM and GPU req install drivers from vista

btw apropos performance

netbooks with atoms n2600 and n2800 are slower than m780!

I have extremally modded acer AOD270 with N2600 and t43p is faster but don't have hdmi and hardware h264 decoder

about my AOD270
cooling mod (custom heatsing with diamond thermal paste)
rewrite bios to allow use lcd 10.1 1366x760
updated to 3g modem
updated to bluetooth
updated disk to Hitachi 7k750 7200rpm
4gb ram (bios mod)
plans - replace n2600 to n2800 (possible shorter battery life but gpu is much faster)

I just solder missing component on motherboard and buy lcd from lenovo 10.1 with 1366x768

benefits?
extremely long work on battery - over 9 hours
totally cool and quiet
cpu have 2 cores and 4 threats - its enough for win7 pro with aero
have hdmi and hardware h264 decoder
works like small PC.
1366x768 vs not usable 1024x600
official support windows 7 (probably last good system from M$)

p.s.
I cry for x100e with atom... for me, AMD is only as heater - not cpu
and no HDMI connector - crazy man accept this
