Couple T30 Questions

#1 Post by Silent_Vixen » Tue Jun 07, 2005 4:48 pm

So today I said screw it and got a T30 and left my T22 behind :)
Questions are: I know IBM's are picky about wireless cards, so what can I put in mine that will work?
Also, the processor is a 1.6ghz, but how high of a processor will it accept? Thanks!

I run a LinkSys WPC54G wireless PC card in each of my Thinkpads (T21 and T30), using it at freespots, and T-mobile Hotspots. Much stronger signals than internal wires. Card is problem free, the software includes a 'site survey' and detects all existing Wi-Fi in the area. Cost around $50.00 from many sources. I have heard the max cpu upgrade is 2.6Mhz

I'm expecting delivery of two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833106219 tomorrow. I'm going to try one in my T30 and one in my recently WiFi upgraded A30p.

I'll let you all know how it works out.

Yes, it does.

If you have to send the unit in to EZServe, put the old one back in.

My condolences. The T30 is without question the [censored] IBM machine I've ever owned/used.

Note: There are 2 different T30 boards. I thought one of them maxes out at 1.8ghz, although I no longer remember.

James,

I was wondering if you had luck with the above card in the T30. I've been eyeing those cards myself, but am reluctant to pull the trigger as most of the no1802.com talk centers around using the Intel 2200 BG card.

Did it work?

Thanks,

~Bill

Both the T30 and A31 will max out at 2GB even though the IBM published max is 1GB.

Haven't had the opportunity to try one in either machine as yet.

Life has interfered with my plans of late.

And R40 models with the i845MP chipset will go to 2 gig as well (I have 1.5 gig in mine and another 1 gig stick on the way) even though IBM advertises the limit is 1 gig.

Sorry for the long delay in getting these upgrades completed.

I finally got my thumb out and upgraded both my A30p and T30 with the Intel cards and both are working just fine. (I'm downloading Rescue and Recovery via my 11g network on the A30p as I type this.)

Now I just have to figure out how to get Access Connections working correctly so that I can turn WiFi on and off with Fn+F5.

Sweet, guess it's about time for me to pull the trigger. Thanks, James, for letting us know, I really appreciate it.

Thanks,

~Bill
