Hi All,
Looking at a few inexpensive Samsung OEM SSDs, e.g. 0PM10/MZ-MPC064D originally made for a Dell laptop:

How much pain would it be to fit one into my T42? (with a JM20330-based mSATA-IDE44 bridge) In particular do I have to burn generic Samsung Fw into the SSD and if so how exactly if T42 BIOS doesn't see it?
Besides this 0PM10/MZ-MPC064 model (PM830?) I've also come across JMK81/MZ-MPA064 (PM800?) - same questions really (if it's any different).
Many thanks!

No, you don't.dandreye wrote:In particular do I have to burn generic Samsung Fw into the SSD?
All the same. I've had an old Dell-issued Samsung mSATA SSD in a T42p with an Addonics adapter and it worked really well IMO, especially given the age of the platform. YMMV.Besides this 0PM10/MZ-MPC064 model (PM830?) I've also come across JMK81/MZ-MPA064 (PM800?) - same questions really (if it's any different)

Hi George - thank you: I ended up buying a couple of Samsung PM830 mSATA SSDs (MZMPC128HBFU-000H1), specifically one HP version and one Lenovo version. The former one has arrived and is recognized perfectly well by T42 BIOS as you predicted. I'm currently having what looks like some DMA issues when using Windows (Linux treats it better at a glance), which I hope are unrelated to the SSD Fw:
