Hot palm rest

#1 Post by plasdom » Wed Jun 08, 2005 4:51 pm

Since the weather started to warm up, my right palm rest has been heating but quite a bit. It is now too warm for me to lay my palm on for more than just a few seconds. The left palmrest does not have this problem. Anyone else experience this? This is on a t42

Could you tell us the approximate ambient temperature, and the model HDD in your T42?

What harddrive do you have? I have the hitachi 7200 rpm 60GB drive in my T42, and it gets a bit warm, but nothing near too hot to lay my palm on.

So it's a Hitachi 5k80 40GB.

Hum ... the 5k80 80GB ran cool here when I had it.

a 5K80 40G?

Can someone explain to me the significance of the "80"? I thought that was the size of the hard drive, so "5K40" would mean 5400rpm, 40GB.
