T30 making ugly noise ...

Sorry, list members, I have no better words to describe the annoying problem with my T30 ;-((

I think that this has been discussed here already but
I am unable to identify the problem's source:
HDD or MB ???

Accessing the HDD the systems gives a noise like
"little farts" and finally the TP then getting blocked ;-(

C-A-D does not help anymore and a raw Power-OFF
is needed to shutdown but this is causing problems
with the file systems of some partitions needing a
system start from the (rescue) CD ;-((

Good advice from Freeze, run the Hitachi DFT utility and see what it reports.
