Can a T43p (15" ) screen be used on a T42 (14") ?
The inverter on my T42 seems to have gone bad. Screen turns dark shortly after booting up. The original screen is 14"
I've got a dead T43p with a beautiful 15" screen.
Can the T42 screen be replaced with the larger T43p?

No, 14.1" and 15" T4x have different size screens and LCD-cables.
And XGA, SXGA+ and UXGA all use different cables and inverters.
On top of that: Intel and ATI graphics handle resolutions different.

You should try and see if you can read anything under certain lighting. If so, that means the CCFL tube is dead. And for the screen and cable and inverter if you just move the T42 motherboard into the T43 chassis it should work. Also I do have a set of XGA screen for my 14.1" T43 without Bluetooth that I wanted to get rid off for cheap if you feel tired of moving the motherboard (it is a hard process). I removed it because the hinge and back cover cracked on the left side and I ordered a SXGA+ set for myself that was designed for T41.smashkenazi wrote:Screen turns dark shortly after booting up.

If that T42 has ATI, you can move the T42 motherboard into the T43p case, they have identical fittings.

All T42 series have ATI according to ThinkWiki. It is just about which one is more powerful. Radeon 7500, 9000, 9600 (With Aero support) and Mobility FireGL T2 (the most powerful with Aero support). Only type 18xx of T43 have the Intel GMA.RealBlackStuff wrote:If that T42 has ATI, you can move the T42 motherboard into the T43p case, they have identical fittings.
