Newbie with T22...Battery failure?

Hey everybody,
Very Glad to see theres a Thinkpad Forum:)

I just bought a Recondition T22 (2 weeks ago)
I installed winXP and everything was working great.
However yesterday I tryed to power it up on battery and got nothing (bat was working fine the day before however I only got an hour or so use out of it)

win Xp bat monitor says 97%
Installed maximizer tonight and is says battery has an error...
Battery is an IBM LI-ion

Any ideas on why sudden failure? Anyway I can test bat with volt/amp meter?

The IBM Hardware Maintenance Manual should show you how to check the battery voltage. You can download the manual from the following link:

XP will run on those but for the PM to work correctly you must flash to the latest BIOS - preferably before you install XP

I have not seen it personally but I have heard of battery related issues that may be resolved by flashing.

If the battery is the origional one it's a safe bet that it needs replaced and is probabally worth it to do so.

Well XP was working perfectly..still does when plugged in....

Sounds like The place I bought it is sending me a new battery so we can see if that helps.

Otherwise I'll try the BIOS.

Tested Bat... Voltage less then 1 Volt
Resitance btw pin 3-4 10 K omhs

IBM says is resistance is corrent to replace system board (all still under warentty)..so I guess I'll wait and if the new batt doesn't work I'll take it in for service.

Any other Ideas/ suggestions
