T43 Wireless help...

#1 Post by Navck » Fri Jun 10, 2005 1:20 pm

Hello, I just got my laptop yesterday, but I'm having wireless troubles
I found an old DLink Dl614+, and set it up so it would work with my router. Well it does work, untill I turn WEP on. I attempt to connect to my wireless network, and it says "Waiting for network" after I entered my WEP Key. This keeps going on for about 3 minutes, then that window disappears. No connection happens. Now if I turned WEP off, I connect to my wireless router within about 25 seconds, and everything works fine. Yes I've checked the WEP key many times, but it doesn't work at all. However I can access all my neighbors unsecured networks with ease.

Have you tried updating the firmware on your router? In addition, are you entering the WEP key using HEX or alphanumberically?

I have not had a problem using the wireless card on my Thinkpad using WPA. Try it if your router supports it.

I finally got it to work yesterday. However, it takes over 3 minutes after the first try for my laptop to automatically connect
After that it acts like its on a 128k or so connection. Even if I'm connected to a nice cable connection in the middile of the night with no one on.
