Recommendation for t43p Sleeve w 9 Cell Attached

#1 Post by Goin'Mobile » Fri Jun 10, 2005 2:16 pm

Just received my T43p (2687-D5U)
I am a 1st time TP owner and am impressed with the fit, finish and build quality. Incredible upgrade from a Dell Latitude D400 which at the time I thought was a great machine.
I am looking for a good sleeve w room to pull notebook in and out w 9 cell attatched. Have looked at all posts on the topic using search feature and the only one which seems to have a good fit accoding to the dimensions is the brain cell. This sleeve is a bit big (external dimensions) for my existing bag though. Does anyone know of a slimmer sleeve that will fit this notebook with the attatched 9 cell?
Thanks

Been wondering about the same issue. I was thinking about the brain cell, too, but the sizes that the 15" T43 would fit in are really designed for a thicker notebook. I'm thinking about trying the Trager TransPorter (can see it on the Tom Bihn website as well), which I believe offers the same kind of protection. Not sure yet if the laptop will actually squeeze in there with the 9 cell battery, though. I'll let you know if I find out.

check out http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleeveca ... ecases.htm ... they have a sizing chart which lists thinkpads with extended batteries.

These sleeves look nice. Do you have one? How do you like it. I need something that I can get the TP in and out with out too much pulling and tugging.

What is the interior lining, is it soft?

yes they are nice. my wife has one for her 15" powerbook. we got it for her on a recommendation from a friend of mine who had a thinkpad x40. i'm going to be buying one for my new t42p (probably in a vertigo combo). the case is extremely well constructed. the interior is neoprene i think so the machines can be removed easily (but they are not going to fall out on their own).

BTW - I just purchased a Trager USA sleeve for a 15" laptop. According to the fitlist on www.tombihn.com (they sell trager bags), it will fit a 14" T4x, 14" T4x with extended battery, and 15" T4x. Notably missing is the 15" T4x with extended (9 cell) battery. However, I really like the fit with my 15" and the extended battery. I just put the notebook in with the battery sticking up and the zipper closes over it with no problem. I am convinced that this sleeve can't be beat for size vs. protection - small enough to fit in a separate bag for carrying, but it has a semi-hard shell and the notebook is suspended an inch or so from the bottom. Could probably just drop it onto concrete and the notebook would be fine. Anyone want to lend me their Thinkpad to test out that theory?

i have a Tom Binh vertical bag for my T41 (6 cell) and love it...great for chuncking the TP in my backpack and not worrying about it getting scratched. The only downside is that it tends to rub the finish off of the top a bit, but it's just now noticable (1 year later).

If you're asking for a sleeve recommendation, be sure to specify which screen size it's for.
X31, T43p (on sale soon I think :( ), T400
