RE: My first thoughts on my new T43p 14"

So i received my G2U t43p yesterday... and so far so good!

I havn't really organized my thoughts so prepare for some babble:

First off, the t43p fan noise has been HARDLY a problem! Yes, when it runs at its highest speed it IS loud but that has been rare EVEN when playing games (havn't played naything that intense so far just Command and Conquer Generals). In fact I've only heard the fan at full blast (which is th eonly time it seems loud) at startup and for a few short seconds... I'd actually prefer it to be on a LITTLE bit more... after playing a few levels of Generals, the left side of the thinkpad DID get a little bit warm and I'm sure if the fan went on for only a few moments that would have been no problem... I have not officially used any heat measurement utilities as of yet.

Speed is amazing by the wya with the Pentium M 770 (2.13 ghz) and 1 gig ram... nothing has slowed this thing down (you should see how mnay internet explorers u can open up on this thing without it lagging!). Well built and ot my eye (once again no official software testing) i do not see any dead pixels at close examination. I ran a littl esoftware called Super Pi which calculates pi to a given amount of digits (program can be found here ftp://pi.super-computing.org/windows/super_pi.zip) . To 2 million digits i can get 1:35 seconds with many many processes running (for an idea of other machines times u can go here http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/to ... IC_ID=2657)

With the 14.1" SXGA+ screen the resolution is a little smalle rthan what i was used to but my eyes quickly adjusted and my desktop monitor now seems like a huge children's book with too big text. However, adjusting the resolution is a very feasible solution if you're web browsing although the crispness of the screen is affected by doing this but like i said, for web browsing u can change the setting so your eyes can rest a little bit. Brightness and viewing angles are very good. The verticla sweet spot that i find is just a little below center so u have to tilt the LCD back just a bit.

Fingerprint reader is a really cool plus taking a few trie sto get used to but works seemlessly when logging on.

If anyone has any questions or something they'd like me to try feel free to leave a reply, I'll try as hard as i can to fulfill it although i may be busy in the next few days.

Peace out ;)

One of the trickiest things I found was reconfiguring the display settings so the fonts were of a consistent size. I tend to like things on the smaller level to maximize screen real estate and the default config had the settings at a bit too high a level for my tastes.

That and then I did what I do on all XP machines these days - patch UXTheme.dll and install a custom theme. :D
