Screen does not turn on after Hibernate/Suspend

#1 Post by Navck » Fri Jun 10, 2005 10:56 pm

Any idea why my T43 does this?
I'm guessing it might be ATITool, or Centrino Hardware Control (Slightly lowered voltages, stable)
However I do not hear anything either

Yes this thing is really annoying . i find shutting it down completely and booting again faster in many cases. And this is really missing the whole point of quick return from STBY.

Anyhow i did try to turn off my Skype and Firefox before closing the lead (STBY mode).
And it did seems to help on wake up. but going into this mode still takes very long time.
It’s not consistent either – makes it difficult to narrow down what causing it.

Same issue here with a T43P. I have had to hit the "off" button after the unit has gone to standby on a few occasions to get video. I can't detect a pattern as yet.

Hi,
I have similar problem here with my T42p. While not having performed serious test series I think the problem only occurs if the T42p power (line cord or accu) differs between shutdown and recover from standby. My Thinkpad e.g. sometimes does not turn on the screen when shutdown has been performed with accu and recover should be performed on line power...

have a T42p (Q1U) and a T43p (H2U) both sitting here, side by side..

now the H2U is still new and only has one app loaded on the factory preload..

i open and shut these frequently, with no problem..

the BEST thing to do first, is prove the problem to be NOT hardware..
how you do that depends on your access to a pure factory preload HDD that you can swap into the system..

if the problem persists, then it is 99% sure to be hardware..

if not, then look to some of the more esoteric software that has been added..

and/or some setting that has become disagreeable with one of those esoteric apps.. :)

You might check Event Viewer at: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. It may point to which program, service or software is causing the problem. If you are online, you can click on the link in the dialog box to get more information on the error from microsoft.com.

Weird, it stopped again
Now my Thinkpad is working fine
But earlier when I did boot from Standby or Hibernate, I get the "messed up bluescreen of unreadable text of death". This also does happen when I try to hibernate on my desktop

i'm not suspecting hardware at all, it was just fine when it came new.
i'm sure it's one of the aps . but to find which one will be now a challenge
