T43: 14.1 versus 15.0

#1 Post by skibum1981 » Thu Jun 16, 2005 5:55 am

I am going to get a T43, but I am having trouble deciding between the 14.1 1400x1050 and the 15.0. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

My current laptop (a Dell) has a 15.0 1400 x 1050 but I think maybe it may be better to save the extra weight and space? Let me know what all of you T43 owners think...

I prefer the 14" chassis on the T4x series. It's smaller, more compact and is a tad lighter. The 14.1" 1400x1050 screen is superb....

But . . . isn't it true that the FlexView display is available only in the 15" size? I love my FlexView!

You know what I think that is true. I just checked the website and none of the 14.1 SXGA + models actualy had the flexview. This is weird cuz I swear I saw the 14.1's listed as "flexview IPS" last week. Strange. Must have been a typo and they fixed it ....

With this new evidence in mind, I think I'll go for the 15.0...

but :D i think i heard that the flexview got slower response time or some ghosting issues on games ...
personally I didn’t find any issue with the angle on the 14” , it’s a laptop after all – I seat in front of it 99% of the time

Yeah, I have the 14.1 and it's great. I never really understood the necessity of the better angle view on the flexview, do you usually give presentations from a laptop? The only thing that it might be useful for is someone easedropping on your movie on a plane :P

15` is not too biger than 14 and not too havier, but my new flexview display is much better than on my previous T41 14`, its so comfortable to show something to my friends siting around me - we dont need to find the right angle to view pictures for ex., its so thin and so light weight, that i cant feel any difference between them, and not too much difference in price ..
p.s. doom3 runs rapidely without problems on it and i did not take notice problems with respond time and so..

Actually I don't give presentations, but I have found nothing more annoying than trying to watch a DVD on my Inspiron 5000 (15 in, 1400 x 1050, before the days of flexview and xbrite and what not) with a friend. It's literally impossible to get the viewing angle "just right." No fun! I think I am gonna go with the Flexview...
