Software Installer on T42

#1 Post by lappot » Thu Jun 16, 2005 7:12 am

I used the Thinkvantage Software installer to keep my drivers current.

Now when I try to run it, I get the error message:

"The supplied handle is the wrong type for the requested operation"

I can't figure out what is going wrong. I have tried to re-install the software several times but that has not helped.

I would be most grateful for any help with this.

If you are using a web accellator, disable it and try again

The software update program uses your Internet Explorer settings as it settings to connect to the web. That error will also be caused if you are using a proxy server in IE. Just disable it temporarily to do the updates.

You guys are great!!!

It was the Google web accelerator. After turning it off everything works again.

Thanks!

The new version of software installer that was released yesterday should allow you to keep web accelerators running w/o affecting software installer.
