T43P: Inverter or CCFL bulb?

#1 Post by Raidriar » Thu Jun 15, 2017 5:32 pm

I recently acquired a almost top spec 15" T43P for 10$, with the issue that "The LCD cuts out after a minute". Fearing that the board might be the culprit, I hooked it into my TV via VGA and it looked perfect on the TV, but no picture on the display panel. For a split second sometimes on start, I see a pinkish screen then blank/dead. Is this an inverter or bulb issue, and what is the best course of action?

CCFL.

Replace the bulb if you're up for it, or the entire panel.

I got the backlight on long enough to see yellowing on the right side of the screen. Would the sharp AVS UXGA panel from the Dell systems be an adequate replacement? Anything special involved in the swap?

I've never done that particular swap myself, but others have. These are fine panels, as close as you can get to IPS with a TN screen of that size and format IMO.

Just chiming in, I found this Sharp made in japan AVS panel used on ebay for a whopping....13$
I swapped it in and it really is a beautiful display, bright, crisp, good viewing angles no yellowing. Quite happy with how it turned out
