ThinkPad T43/p: Which versions of Windows do you use
ThinkPad T43/p with Radeon graphics is one of the most flexible ThinkPads in terms of which versions of windows it can run. It can run Windows NT 4.0 SP6a, 2k, XP, 2k3, Vista, 2k8, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 with a Pentium M 750 or better and 2GB RAM (400mhz to 533mhz CPU oc, and GMA versions of T43 will NOT work for Windows 8 and up). I personally have tried all of the above on my T43p.
I used its stock Windows XP when I didn't know much about computers to around 2013; then switched to Windows 2000 quad-booted with Windows NT 4.0 SP6a, 2k3 and 7 because I got the XP copy way too bloated to be used properly (early 2014); then switched to Windows 7 because I liked the fact that Windows Aero works just fine (mid 2014); then switched to Windows 8 after I realized that Windows 8 does work with T43 (and I confused it with T42 which does NOT work with Windows 8, late 2014); then to Windows 8.1 after when my friends did the upgrades (early 2015); then went into Windows Insiders program and test out beta versions of Windows 10 (mid 2015), and then stick with Windows 10 for most of the time until today.
What versions of Windows have you all tried in R52/T43/p, what do you think of each of them and what did you end up with for most of times?
P.S. For some reason, I think it is very interesting to compare how UXGA resolution looks like in Windows NT4 to how UXGA looks like in Windows 10. UXGA in NT4 literally looks like 4k in Windows 10 today, while UXGA in Windows 10 seem all pretty normal to me for some reason.

Re: ThinkPad T43/p: Which versions of Windows do you use
I've tried W2K, XP, VIsta and W7.
I have two identical Intel X-25E SLC SSDs, one loaded with W2K and the other one with W7 and I swap them depending on what I feel like playing with. Having said that, my SATA-modded T43p is mostly retired nowadays.

Re: ThinkPad T43/p: Which versions of Windows do you use
I decided to give Windows 10 a try on my ThinkPad T43 (X300 with 2GB RAM and 128GB IDE Transcend SSD), runs surprisingly well for being over a decade old (did buy a NOS battery for it as well which is also working, actually says "Lenovo" on it)... have not run into any issues but had to install a dummy driver for the TPM to avoid the yellow ! icon and install the Vista driver for the ATI X300, but otherwise it's running perfectly (even better than 7 I'd have to say)

Re: ThinkPad T43/p: Which versions of Windows do you use
My T43 is also mostly retired now and I prefer W7 to W10.
The original Edge browser was nice and light when W10 first came out and this was more suited to the T43.

Re: ThinkPad T43/p: Which versions of Windows do you use
Interestingly, many of us here actually tries Windows 10 on their T43. Well I am using Windows 10 right now as I said. Yea I would say one of the bonus for Windows 10 is Microsoft Edge. On fast systems (quad core CPU, 8GB RAM and SSD), Chrome performs better than Edge. However with Radeon T43 and R52 series, Chrome couldn't even play 360p YouTube videos while Edge handles 720p YouTube videos with ease (with the fact that you use Anniversary version or later since by then Edge supports Adblockers)
I do NOT recommend you using Creator's update as it brings too much compromise to the decade old DirectX 9 only graphics and it couldn't even play DVD properly with that update. I uninstalled that update after installing it and disabled automatic windows update by task scheduler and services ways.
